Biography
Born and raised in Curaçao, in 2015 is where my photography journey officially started. With my collection of unused birthday money of the past several years, I finally purchased my very own professional DSLR camera. And I can definitely say this Canon DSLR camera has been my favorite toy to play with ever since.
Back when I was still living on Curaçao me and my friends used to always go on many adventures and take pictures wether it would be just walking through the city, breaking into abandoned buildings, hiking in nature or simply chilling by the beach. I always manage to find inspiration in my loved ones and the environment surrounding it. It also helps that I tend to have very pretty friends that end up being perfect muses to photograph.
Now since I moved to Holland 2 years ago, drawing inspiration from the natural existing environment has been a bit more difficult. As I'm used to the island lifestyle, beauty, people and peace. In this city lifestyle I had to learn to adapt. Moving to Holland has definitely been a chaotic roller coaster ride so far, with its good and bad things about it. As I learned to adapt to this society I also learned how to create and romanticize environments. I have been doing this simply by experimenting with placing different colored lights everywhere and playing with the shutter speeds and exposures on my camera to get the desired effects on what life would look like on some tryptamine.
I tend to live life very impulsively, I love making fires, going on adventures, cooking, traveling and best of all just be in nature. I would say my slogan is "figo ban!" which literally translates to "cool let's go!" the main reaction I tend to have to any crazy last minute impulsive ideas. That always end up turning into beautiful memorable moments that I can cherish for many lifetimes to come.
I would like my viewers to be able to connect and feel the feelings that were present when engraving the beautiful moments in stone, in this case engraved in a picture. And to be reminded that although life is hard it can be very comforting reliving the past through pictures when things might seem to be crumbling all down in the present. And as seen in our modern day world, history always seems to be repeating itself. But that doesn't always have to be for the worst. When we re-evaluate our own personal lives and the decisions we've made we can only accept our mistakes and learn from them to grow into the person we want to be.
With that being said I wish you a pleasant scrolling experience through my photo gallery.
